Item Description
Charles Wysocki is known for his love of color and pattern and how they intersect. Wysocki considered himself a painter of "Early American life". His works present a level of naivete common to American folk art paintings by artists including Grandma Moses amongst others. After spending time in New England, more specifically Kittery, Maine, Wysocki developed the idea that became this work of art.
Presenting a wonderful scene with buildings and trees off in the background with horse drawn carriages in the near ground. The primitive quality of the work can be seen in it's method of presentation of the foreground at the bottom, middleground in the middle and back ground high above. This method of showing perspective harkens back to other folk artists and gives the scene an enchanting quality.
The print is present on a white mat with red band at the border and in a finished wood frame and glazed.
This limited edition print is signed in plate and also pencil signed and numbered "1195 / 1500"
