Item Description
Charles Joseph Grips (Belgian, 1825-1920) oil on panel painting depicting an interior scene with a maid holding a duster gazing behind an ornately decorated room divider screen. The interior with parquet floor upon which numerous objects of virtu and antiquities including a barley twist pedestal book stand, along with an antique Chinese blue and white glazed double gourd porcelain vase as well as a Chinese blue and white porcelain ginger jar and cover seen laying on its side.
There is a parrot in a birdcage with impressively painted crown as finial.
Signed and dated 1873 to lower left, additionally with a name plaque denoting the artist name and age of the painting.
Presented in a carved and gilt finished frame.
Condition: Light wear to the painted finish around the trim. The frame with losses and heavy wear commensurate with age and handling. Despite wear the painting presents fabulously.
