"The End of the Day's Sport", English shooting scene by Charles Jones RCA, English 1836-1892.
A pony and two gun dogs resting after a day's shooting. The proceeds of the "bag", pheasants, partridge, hare, etc. lie on the ground. A shotgun is propped up against a fence.
Oil on canvas, gilded 'swept' frame.
Sight: 27 1/8"h x 35 1/2"w
Frame: 34 3/4"h x 42 3/4"w
Condition: Craquelure throughout. An area of old restoration / in painting can be seen to the horse main. Wear to the painted finish of both frame and painting. Despite wear the painting projects nicely.
