Item Description
A framed ink on paper letter by Charles Dickens (English, 1812-1870). The letter header is printed "R.H. Hinkley Company, Publishers; The New England Building; No 200 Summer St.; Boston Massachusetts; Cable Address, Hink: Telephone, 4700 Main."
The letter appears to read:
"Wednesday Fourth [?] 1863- Dear Sir,
I [?] not [?] the [?]
this unavailing trouble of coming to me.
With regret I assure you that it is not
reasonably possible for us to comply
with the request. They would prefer [?]
me the like of which is so constantly
made to me that it is usually answered
in another hand than mine attached
to a printed form. Dear Sir.

The letter is mounted against a black background, displayed behind glass with a cream mat in a gilt frame with geometric relief.
Dimensions: overall 13 1/4" H x 10" L. SS: 8 1/2" H x 5 1/2" L
Condition
Displays well. The letter has a horizontal crease line from previously being folded at the center, and has areas of wear where there was once old adhesive tape. Light wear to the frame.
