Item Description
A fantastic Surrealist style painting on canvas giving the viewer pause for inquiry into the image in front of them.
The scene has a coastal landscape as the setting with a red sky as though the sun is setting at dusk or rising at dawn. In the foreground a ladder back side chair can be seen facing the sea, with a majestically painted, oversized butterfly appears to have perched upon one of the chairs finials.
Signed lower right and on verso to canvas and dated 1986.
Presented in a simple white finished wood frame.

Frame: 20 3/4"H x 28 3/8" W
Condition
An old restoration to the canvas where it had torn in the lower right quadrant can be seen on front and verso. The restoration is approx. 2 3/4" L and 1 1/4" tall. There is also a spot in the upper left quadrant where the paint has been lost. Additional wear around the trim and the frame needs cleaning but despite wear the painting presents well.
