A wonderfully decorative bronze cast After Guillaume Coustou, French (1677 - 1746), "Cheval De Marly".
The wonderful cast is signed "Coustou" to the base and was created after a famous pair of marble sculptures the artist had originally created for Louis XIV's chateau at Marly and now currently reside at the entrance to the Champs-Elysees in Paris. The sculpture presents a dramatic struggle between a horse and his struggling handler.
Signed "Coustou" to the base. The bronze has a lovely patina and light gilt highlights throughout.
17 1/4"H x 14 1/4"L x 8"W
Condition: There is wear to the patina and with some scuffing but overall presents well.
