This stunning Bigelow Kennard & Co. mahogany 9 Tube Grandfather clock features a 12" silvered dial with an engraved, signed plaque found just above the number 6 denoting the clock is "Bigelow, Kennard & Co., Boston". With a removable bonnet constructed of mahogany and brass features a broken arch pediment with 3 brass globe formed finials. The bonnet has a shaped door with glass panel. The silvered dial with applied gilt brass hour numbers with filigree decorated, gilt corner spandrels and clock face interior. There is a second hand on a dial that can be found applied to the top of the interior filigree decorated main clock face.
Above the clock face there is a moon phase dial ornately painted.
The Grandfather clock features a long wood case with architectural form. The clock stands on four bracket feet with a carved, scroll form apron. The lower panel with an inlaid urn decorative reserve with inlaid shells to the four corners. The case has a beveled glass panelled pendulum door flanked by carved column form decoration. The pendulum door features a decorative border with scalloped top and an inlaid satinwood clam shell. The glass panelled case opens to reveal 9 silvered tubes with a long steel pendulum stick with brass covered bob and solid brass pulleys.
There is a mounted and inscribed brass plaque on the reverse of the lower door "Presented to Marguerite Levering Woods June 8, 1904 by Levi Rawson Greene. "Uncle Le.""

Condition: Case with small nics and wear to the finish. There are also losses to the inlay, most notably to two of the sections of the clamshell on the lower door. There is also light some loss to the finish of the applied filigree. The movement was untested and is in need of cleaning. Most of the strings connected to the chin hammers are old and dry, they will need to be replaced. 100.5" high x 27.5" wide x 22.5" deep.
