Item Description
Attributed to Jack Ketner (American, b. 1953) sculptural collage featuring a Supertone banjo painted in oil depicting pastoral hills, leading to multiple necks, one made of a branch. A mannequin hand with a flannel cuff supports wires lined with sheet music flags, echoing a large flag to the side titled "Carry me Back to Old Virginny" by James A. Bland (American, 1854-1911). The scene is enclosed in a mitered honeyed brown wood box.
Verbal provenance: Purchased at Ketner's show at the Green Hill Center for NC Art in the early 1990s.
Condition: Displays well with wear adding to the piece's rustic charm. Scattered finish wear, discoloration, and surface scratches. Small piercings and a tear to the painting.
