Assorted set of 4 Italian pottery wall decor hand painted including the snail (Chiocciola) decorative plate that has been represented for centuries for the Palio rose race, handcrafted in Siena, Italy. As marked el verso. It’s colors are usually consistent as well. The trio of ceramic rectangular placques are also ready to hang decorated with traditional imagery. A bull, cityscape, and fish richly defined in vibrant colors on a curved surface. Possibly signed by the artist el verso.
Condition: In overall good condition with expected signs of age and wear.

Additional background info: The 'Palio di Siena' is a tournament as a replica of a medieval horse race which is ran twice year, during the summer season, in the city of Siena, located in the beautiful Tuscany region. The race takes its name 'Palio' from the Italian word which means 'banner'. The richly decorated Palio Banner is the prize given to the winning 'Contrada' (District) of the race. There are 17 Contradas that compete against each other twice a year in the months of July and August and each one has a distinctive Insignia.
