Arthur Ganson is an artist whose focus is on kinetic sculpture. His works are featured at museums including the MIT Museum. His highly engaging "sculptures explore the nature of oiled surfaces, object manipulation, and slow explosions, and are created from a range of materials that he fabricates or finds."
This particular machine sculpture is large and mounted to a base. With rotaries and wires all connected and intertwined culminating in an upper phallic element aimed at a photographic image of a group of people. While the motor does not currently work, the work is said to move side to side and up and down at random pokng a hole in the picture in a different place each time.

Condition: The motor did not work at time of inspection but could likely be re fit with a new motor and started up however the extent of what would be needed to run is unknown. In any case the work is fascinating to gaze upon and the artist is one where his work could be researched. The work presents nicely overall and is surely fascinating.
