Ariane R. Berman is an American artist born in 1937, and resides in New York. As an artist, Berman focused her attention and creative content into painting and printmaking. Interestingly, her works have not been as heavily circulated as many of her artistic peers working in a similar style have been throughout the 20th century. Berman’s unique style is intrinsically modern, blending bold colors and form juxtaposing realism and abstraction. Figures in her works are often devoid of facial features, but placed in realistic environments, thus drawing the viewers gaze to the overall image as it blends form and color in the modern aesthetic.
The current work depicts a woman, seated to the side in profile, upon a white chair with her right leg tucked under her left. The sitter is depicted in a green dress against a background appearing divided between a monochromatic and striped decorative motif.
The print is pencil signed, titled and marked 'A.P.' out of plate to the lower trim.
The print is presented unframed.
One trim edge appears rough as it was not cleanly cut. Very slight discoloration to the paper but overall in good form and presents wonderfully.
