Antonio Lopez was a highly influential fashion illustrator whose work appeared in major publications like Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, and The New York Times from the 1960s to the 1980s. Together with Juan Ramos spanned a 30 year career expanding their practice to include photography, textile design, sculpture and collage. The original bags and other works by Antonio Lopez are highly sought after and have been exhibited in galleries and museums worldwide, including El Museo del Barrio in New York City.
The original artworks, such as these, were created using various materials including pen and ink, pencil, charcoal, and watercolor. They are often paintings or mixed-media pieces on paper, in this case, shopping bags.
His work frequently incorporated elements of pop art and surrealism, featuring expressive and colorful depictions of faces, eyes, and lips, which became a signature of his style.
The painting on this shopping bag shows two eyes set against a pastel abstraction background. Signed lower right and numbered 39/100. Presented in a nickel frame and glazed.

Condition: water damage to back that does not show on the artwork but there is light spotting to the silver mat and beneath the shopping bag. Please see photos for details of condition. The frame with scratches on the nickel metal.
