Antique Pre-Columbian (AD 50 - 100) Northern Coastal Peru ceramic, slipped and polished vessel in the form of a reclining llama with burden, titled "Moche I".
The llama is depicted in reclining position resting on all four legs, front and back. It's head is lifted with ears up and alert. The llama has its burden, jug on its back with a 'C' form openwork cylindrical extension with vertical cylindrical nozzle.
A tag affixed underneath denotes a collection number / de accession number "BR.90.8.3" written over a white ground with the sticker label underneath denoting "90.8.3 / BR184 / IMEO / Moche I / 7"".

Condition: Ears restored, Some overpaint on underbelly. There is some wear to the painted finish with the raw ceramic coming through around the area of the nozzle, possibly having been previously restored. When handled, there seems to be a small object that can be heard within. Overall, despite some wear, the object presents exceptionally well considering its vast age.
