This lovely antique French Sevres, possibly Sevres style, porcelain hinged casket has a wonderful hand painted reserve to the lid depicting an entertaining and lavish garden party scene with dancing couples. The casket lid has a shaped oval form on an ivory colored ground. There are brass mounts to the rims of both cover and casket with a hinge and acantus form clasp in the front. There are wonderfully painted reserves to the four sides of the casket walls depicting figural garden scenes. All decoration is set on an ivory colored ground with gilt foliate decoration throughout.
Underfoot there is a blue Sevres hallmark with an apparent S in the center and the letters P and A overtop.

Condition: There are numerious areas where there appears to have been old restoration. Toward the right side of the lid there is a spot roughly 4-5" where a paste has been applied over to possibly repair an old crac or chip and any paint that had been applied over the putty is discolored. There is also a good amount of oxidation to the brass mountings. Overall this is a lovely French Sevres casket which could either be fully restored or left as is to be understood and marvelled at as an antique with good presentation.
