Item Description

Marked London, 1791-92 by renowned silversmith Charles Aldridge. An elegant oval George III sterling silver stand, with scalloped openwork top band, pierced center frame and is raised on four fluted scrolled feet. With a wooden covered base.
Included in the strand is a set of original, matching beautiful cut crystal condiment bottles and one jar, all with sterling silver mounts.
There is a monogrammed shield on each end of the server, with an engraved "R", and an engraved Scottish clansman badge on the condiment jar top, also with an engraved "R".

Charles Aldridge was apprenticed to his uncle Edward Aldridge, in 1758 and he did his most noteworthy work while in partnership with Henry Green between 1775 and 1786, at which point they dissolved their partnership and he worked solely until 1794, when he re-partnered with Elizabeth Andrews.

Condition: There is an old stable crack across the wooden base of the stand that does not affect the integrity nor beauty of the piece. There are a few tiny dings on the stand base edge, minor nicking to some stopper facets and bottom facets, with one larger chip; some glass is lightly sick. The condiment spoon is missing. Overall gently used and is in amazing condition for being 233 years old.
