Item Description
This is a fine example of an English Adams style painted satinwood secretary. The secretary comes in two sections with the below cabinet with hinged fold out writing desk along with a two door upper display case. The top section has two wonderfully constructed, each inset with glass panels. When opened two shelves can be found for display. Above there are four peaks to the corners with a centrally carved architectural element.
The case below featured a slanted, hinged, fold out desk that when opened is supported with two concealed pull our sections each neatly fitting into the item secretary when closed. They have brass handles to pull and open.
Once the drop down face front is opened to reveal the writing space, there are several document compartments and minature drawers with a central cabinet opened by means of a brass key. . There is a central storage area with a wonderfully painted floral bouquet that can be locked with the key.
Below the fold down desk are two short drawers and further below are two hinged doors that open to reveal a large concealed storage space.
The doors and slanted secretary desk, when folded up have wonderfully painted figural reserves that add a gentle warth to this fabulous item. The entire secretary raised four shaped bracket feet with a scalloped decorative appearance to the lower frame above the legs.

Conditon: There are chips and losses to the veneer, most of which are contained in one of the drawers and couled likely be restored. There is also a loose metallic finial that can be seen in the below lot images and during any restoration could be re affixed for the full effect of this gorgeous antique painted Adams style Satinwood veneered secretary desk. Stunning overall just needs a little restoration and tlc.
