Antique American grandfather clock. The clock case supports the mantle which has a glass pane in front of the clock face. Clock face marked Hoadley / Plymouth.
Silas Hoadley (1786-1870) of Plymouth, CT began an apprenticeship with his uncle where he began making clocks in 1808.
The clock has a paint finished dial with Roman numerals and gilt finish with foliate motifs to the four corners. An oval medallion with an American bald eagle can be seen over the clock face.
The mantel with pedestals flanking the case which rises upwards to the broken arch pediment. The case with a door accessed by key. The door with a domed top, features an inlaid diamond motif to the center.
Appears Retrofitted With Electrical Wiring / No Chimes, untested.

Condition: The clock has been retrofitted with electrical wiring, however when plugged in the clock did not work at time of inspection. Along with the electrical retrofitting, the clock has no pendulum or weights within the case which is empty. There are two sections which have come loose and should be re affixed. The central mantel finial, which would have slotted in between the broken arch pediment which is not present. The case has wear to finish and frame. The central mantel finial not present. A true restoration project but one that could be fruitful once complete.
