An antique 19th century Music Box With hinged lid, standing on four feet. The hinged lid fabulously decorated with inlaid marquetry musical themed central motif with inlaid band surrounding. Wonderfully crafted in fine woods for an elegant appearance. There is a key escutcheon but no key present.
Once the top is opened, the cylinder with 46 combs can be seen through the glass top hinged door which can be raised to access the cylinder. A crank can be found on the left side with two switches to the opposite end. One switch has a "Stop" and "Play" positions, with the switch above having a "CHANGE" and "REPEAT" position.
There is a paper label affixed to the underside of the case denoting the music box as having 6 airs which are notated on the paper label.

Condition: There is a break to the back wooden frame where the hinge is affixed to the box where the wood is broken and should be repaired to preserve. The music box itself may need some fine tuning but the music box does play when the crank is pulled. Some wear to the finish on the box and some wear to the metallic hardware commensurate with age and use. Despite the wear the box is lovely and with some refurbishment is sure to be a fabulous music box for you to enjoy.
