André-Vincent Becquerel (French, 1893-1981) patinated bronze sculpture depicting slim rowboat with four men paddling in sync lead by a leader at the front of the vessel. Mounted on a sturdy iron stand. Signed to the side rear side of the vessel and marked Bronze / Made In France on the opposite side. Additionally marked no. 26 underneath.

About the Artist:
André-Vincent Becquerel was a French artist known for bronze sculptures of figure and animals, particularly large cats and birds. He studied at the École des Beaux-arts under Hector Lemaître and animalier sculptors Prosper Lecourtier and Charles Valton. He regularly exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français, as well as exhibiting at the 1937 Exposition Internationale and Salon de la Société des Beaux-arts de la France d’Outre-mer.

Good overall, expected wear to the finish commensurate with age and handling. The lead man with arm raised has a pierced hole where something may have been placed. Overall in good form and presents well.
