Signed and dated, André Renoux oil on canvas painting titled ""Le'll rue du Mont - Cenis a Paris" A. RENOUX" on verso and signed "A. Renoux" to the lower right hand corner. Andre Renoux was born in Oran, Algeria, in 1939 and died in Paris, France in 2002, and is regarded as one of France's national treasures.
Renoux was a highly influential member of the Paris School of Urban Realism. He painted Parisian life so closely it has been said in some ways he captured "its history and soul..sounds, smells, tastes and textures"
In this work he certainly accomplishes the soul of the city. There is a streetscene with shops and a gated entrance. There are two figures seen in the front left quadrant, one with an artists portfolio with a green cover. Although the street scene is rather serene the architecture and street gives an overall warm and aged impression. Although diminutive in size the painting is a wonderful example of Renoux's Urban Realist style.

Condition: There are small areas of wear to the canvas along with areas of loss to finish of the carved and painted frame but the painting presents fantastically overall and is a wonderful example of the artist's work.
