Item Description
An antique pair of World War I battle maps including a larger map of northern France, with an inscription which reads "Map to illustrate the Meuse-Argonne offensive First, Second, and Last phases to accompany report of the Commander in Chief, November 20, 1918". This battle stretched across the entire Western Front, and was a key turning point for the allies in World War I. The second, smaller map, is a Battle Front activity map of the War prepared by American forces, giving a detailed view of Germany, Belgium, and France. It is titled "Battle Front, June 1918" in the bottom left, and reads "Prepared by G-2 (A-3) G.H.Q., American Exp. Forces" in bottom right.
Condition: In good condition with expected signs of use given its age. The Meuse-Argonne offensive map shows some light toning, tears at the folds and to the edges, as well as a quarter sized tear on the edge, as indicated in photography. The smaller map shows some fading and toning to the paper, and creases at the folds.
