A gorgeous Elnathan Taber (Massachusetts, 1768-1854) Federal tall case clock in classic design, finely crafted with gorgeous warm-toned brown wood with a swan neck pediment sporting rosettes and urn-form finials over an arched glass case flanked by stately columnar posts around a white dial. The dial, marked E. Taber, is detailed with black Roman numerals, along with two subdials and is decorated with elegant black details at the corners. The trunk of the clock is nicely banded with a darker inlaid panel, leading to a rectangular base with nicely faceted corners and a shapely, serpentine apron on bracket feet.
