Al Hirschfeld (American, 1903-2003) ink and charcoal on paper, Gertrude Lawrence and Danny Kaye - “Lady In The Dark” depicted in Lizas Circus featuring a horizontal scene with Gertrude front center during the Circus Dream and Danny back right, and Victor Mature in the back left with dancers clustered behind with feathers and great detail along the set, predominately in black with white highlights. Signed in the lower right "Hirschfeld". Presented beneath glass within a custom blackened distressed gray frame from the Margo Friden Galleries (New York City) and the artwork is protected beneath 100% rag content museum board, and secured with water soluble hinges (as mentioned el verso).
Provenance - Vowed husbands, Lord Peter von der Geest and Mr. Robert Nackerman. This item is in loving memory of the infinite love of Lord Peter and Robert.
