After Rembrandt van Rijn (Dutch, 1606-1669) Delft version of "Agatha Bas (1611-1658)" along vertical composition of the penetrating gaze from the merchant's wife who commissioned Rembrandt, with her gaze directly at the viewer, wearing an expensive outfit from the black overcoat, lace chemise and stomacher, accessorized with only the best of jewels and wearing a ring on her pointer, typical at the time for the wedding ring. Detailed with the fan that she holds in one hand and the other grasping the side of her arched composition. Bearing a signature in the lower left, "Near Rembrandt" and marked el verso through the carved hole of the frame. Displayed within a thick rustic wooden frame.
Condition: In overall good condition with expected signs of age and wear including crazing, a crack noticed el verso by marking, some looseness between porcelain and frame, and scattered surface marks to frame but does not detract from imagery.
