Item Description
A handsome antique Federal secretary well crafted in warm-toned medium brown wood and eye-catching lighter honey brown accents. The hinged flip top opens to a hutch of double doors at the center flanked by faux red book spines and series of smaller drawers over two open cubbies, with the writing surface supported by two slide-out rails. The lower case is fitted with four graduating drawers with contrasting borders in between, adorned with double brass bail handles on oval plaque. The piece is finished with a serpentine apron inlaid with a fine border and fanned central motif. Raised on gently flared bracket feet.
Condition
Appears to have had refurbishments over time. Within the interior of the slant front desk compartment on the left side the open compartment missing the carved fretwork section that can be seen on the opposite side. Very minor losses including to the inlaid trim above a crack to to the left of the front right front foot and along side. Despite wear still presents very handsomely overall.
