Item Description

An antique Chippendale style carved mahogany slant front desk with bookcase in two sections and fabulous broken arch pediment atop.
The lower chest resting on four bracket form feet with three graduated size drawers with a central long drawer, flanked by two short drawers which support the slant front top. Each of these drawers features brass swing handled drawer pulls. The slant front can be flipped down to reveal a gilt tooled leather inset writing desk. Concealed within the slant front top are a plethora of drawers and cabinet spaces with arched tops. A wonderful shell carved decorative embellishment to the center.
Above the bottom case is the top bookshelf which is features two fabulously figured mahogany cabinet doors which open to reveal more arched, segmented storage spaces with four short drawers bellow. Above are four book shelves with a central divider.
Above is the fabulously carved and finely finished broken arch pediment.
With key on tassel to open the bookshelf doors but does not work on all drawers.

Condition: Wear mostly commensurate with age and usage and includes splits and cracks to drawers and splits and wear to the panels on the book case doors. There is other wear with surface scuffs and loose hinges. Wear to the leather inset desk. Would be a fabulous project to refurbish and refinish but as it is the slant front book case presents fabulously.
