A beautiful antique etching depicting a South West view of New York City, providing an incredible early American glimpse into the territory, with towering churches and cottages on the hillside, and a fleet of sailing ships at sea. Titled on bottom, "A South West view of the city of New York, in North America". It is accompanied by an additional framed letter titled "Explanation of the view" which provides an in depth and detailed examination of the view. Behind glass and matted within wooden frames.
Condition: Overall in good condition with expected signs of use given its age, including some toning and fading to the paper and matting, and some wear to the frames, as indicated in photography, which do not detract from the overall display.
