Item Description
A beautiful coromandel table top panel with a hard stone, bone, mother of pearl inlaid figural scene highlighted with gold embellishments. The panel depicting a group engrossed in conversation and pointing towards the sky. One boy hides behind the elder as a younger child plays in the foreground. A tree in the upper right with hard stone and hand-painted gold details.
The panel is framed by inlaid mother of pearl flowers and vines. The tilting panel is presented in a turned, pierced and carved frame, the crest with two opposing griffins. Hand-painted gold flowers and insects on verso.
Dimensions: 13 1/2" W overall, 25" H, 8 1/2" D
Condition: minor losses around the inside perimeter of the back panel. Front panel with areas of crackalure especially to center, cracking to bottom seam of panel. Both feet have movement and are not glued in place (possibly intentional for flat storage). The frame is missing nearly all the bronze string inlay save the lower left corner.
