Item Description
A quality E.V. Haughwout & Co. last-half 19th century silverplated tea service including two matching spherical tea pots, a teapot with a raised neck, a lidded sugar bowl, and a bonbon bowl. The lids are detailed with helmet finials and stippled borders, while the upper bodies are adorned with plaques depicting a soldier in profile in the style of Wood & Hughes "Medallion." The mid bodies are decorated with wonderful floral and overlapping ring motifs. The vessels are finished with stippled trims around stout cylindrical necks over circular bases. The set is accompanied by a James Dixon & Sons Sheffield silverplated serving tray with elegant incised scrolled and foliage at the center.
