A large and very decorative group of garden sculptures representing the Classic Four Seasons, Ca.1920's. Each putto is seated on a scrolled support with acanthus leaf details on wavy rectangular bases. The whole mounted on tiered incurved bases.
One putto holds wheat sheafs representing the autumn harvest, (chip to a leaf on one side)
another wear a cape to protect against winter's chill, (loss to one toe, chip to the cloak fringe)
a third holds grape clusters for spring, (chip to the hair on front)
and the fourth holds summer flowers, (repaired crack around the neck with loss to the end of the hairdo)
H. 43", mounts 20 x 29 1/2", well-weathered and some pitting on all four Putti.
