Item Description
18th century George III English mahogany secretary in two part form. Upper case featuring a cornice top with dentil molding over a pair of glazed astragal doors. Interior cabinet with 3 wooden shelves. Lower case with a false drawer embellished with applied trim that drops down to a desk top using a push button brass mechanism. Interior with a central hidden drawer flanked by 6 pigeon holes over four short drawers with brass pulls over 3 graduated cockbeaded drawers with brass bail pulls and escutcheons. Raised on bracket feet. With tag affixed to top marked 'Waring & Gallow LTD. 180 Oxford Street', dated together with purchaser's name.
Condition: Expected signs of use for age including loss to dentil molding, evidence of past repair, scratches, checking, gouges and loss, right facing glass door does not close completely; please refer to photography. All of which give this piece a warm patina that adds to the old world charm of this fine piece.
