This wonderful 18th century Chinese ink on rice paper illustration of the cotton industry is highly detailed and depicts an illustration of the cotton industry during the Qing Dynasty.
With an affixed label on verso denoting the work as "Illustration of Cotton industry / possibly Kang Hsi period / typical style of showing European influence...perspective introduced to China by Joseph Castiglione, the Jesuit priest."
The work utilizes the three dimensional perspective that as stated was brought to the East by the Jesuits.
The work shows two figural groups in an architectural landscape.
Presented as well matted and framed and glazed.
