"Navaratna – as one word refers to a talisman, piece of jewellery or ornament composed of nine perfect gemstones. Jewellery created using all the nine stones is called as Navaratna jewellery. Each of the stones depict a particular planetary body and tap into their energies. All these nine gems are considered equally sacred, and they only differ according to the astral influence of their ruling planets. Navaratna are associated with moon signs not sun signs and the concept is different than that of a birthstone. In Navaratna jewellery, a Ruby, representing the sun, is in the center encircled by the other eight gemstones. This is the placement as specified by Navaratnashastra according to Dr. Usha R Balakrishnan in her book, The Dance of the Peacock."
This majestic reversible navaratna necklace is made of yellow gold, adorned with a red, green and gold enamel flower motif on the reverse side, and on the front side set with decorations of macle cut diamonds, and featuring a chunky line of nine colors, featuring and representing:

Sun: Red stone (in this case red foil backed quartz)
Venus: Clear stone (macle cut diamonds)
Mercury: Green stone (usually emerald, in this case green foil backed quartz)
Jupiter: Yellow stone (usually yellow sapphire, in this case yellow foil backed quartz)
Ketu (the moon’s descending node, not actually a planet of physical substance): Cat's eye
Saturn: Blue stone (usually sapphire, in this case blue foil backed quartz)
Rahu (the moon’s ascending node, not actually a planet of physical substance): Orange stone (usally hessonite garnet, in this case orange foil backed quartz)
Mars: Red coral
Moon: Cultured pearl

Highlighting the necklace is a round navaratna pendant, repeating the same stones as above, with the exception of the center which is a cabachon cut ruby. Punctuating the pendant is a tumbed green emerald, and the necklace is finished by a circular adjustable link chain and a shepherds hook clasp
