The current painting is signed lower right hand corner and additionally on verso to canvas. The painting is presented in an ornately carved and parcel gilt finished frame with linen mat and gilt finished liner.

About the Artist:
Vu Cao Dam was born in 1908 in Hanoi, North Vietnam. He began his artistic studies at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Hanoi, Vietnam at the age of eighteen. By the age of twenty-three, he was awarded a scholarship to travel and study abroad, in Paris. He spent his time in the many museums, studying the original canvases of the masters which he had not been privy to while in Vietnam. Vu Cao Dam lived in Paris until the year 1949, when he left for the south of France, as many great artists before him had also. Vu Cao Dam's style is a wonderful synthesis of his Asian heritage and Western influences. His paintings prompt the viewer to gaze and contemplate with wonder and awe.

Condition
Art in good condition. Very minor losses to the gilt finish on liner and slightest split to liner but overall the work is in good condition and presents exceptionally well.
