Peter Layne Arguimbau (American, b. 1951) is an American artist, painter, restorer and "historian of classical art."
Layne is known for his paintings which take on subject matter ranging from portraits to landscapes, animals and his fantastic maritime paintings.
The current oil on panel painting depicts an seascape with the sun rising or setting with numerous sailboats appearing to race, with their main and spinnaker sales full of air. The manner in which the artist has painted the scene displays his awesome talent in his handling of the play of light off the clouds, sea and atmosphere overall.

Condition
There is a minor chip to the corner of the frame on the lower right corner. The painting is in good condition and presents very well.
