Signed "JD Smillie, lower left. Titled on stretcher by the artist. Partial label on the verso, in the artists hand.
Presented in a lavish, striking gilt frame with carved dimensional laurel leaf and berry, additional carved band, beaded trim, leaf and berry appliqués to the corners, floral and swirl decoration in gold relief.

Painting has been lined. Frame shows wear commensurate with age. Slight to moderate cracklure to paint in both the sky and water. There does not appear to be any in-painting when viewed under blacklight. Loose in frame.
