Herend Hungary, this hand-painted reticulated basket (model 7401/RO) showcases the Rothschild Bird pattern.
The bowl features a latticework body of intersecting open panels accented with 24K gold detailing, forming a beautifully scalloped rim. Delicate applied handles on either side are accented with gold trim, enhancing the elegant silhouette. At the center, two finely painted songbirds rest upon a flowering branch with necklace, surrounded by butterflies and insects in soft jewel tones. The underside displays the traditional blue Herend Hungary shield hallmark with crossed paintbrushes, HANDPAINTED inscription, and the model and pattern numbers 7401/RO.
Dimensions: 4" H x 10 5/8" L, handle to handle
Condition: Excellent condition throughout. No chips, cracks, or restorations. The openwork lattice is intact and even, and the hand-painted decoration retains its brilliance and precision. The gilding remains rich and bright, with only the most minimal signs of age. The underside is clean and well-marked, showing the full Herend factory hallmark and painter’s markings. The unglazed foot shows only minor shelf wear consistent with careful display.
