About the Artist:
Grosz admired Franz Jung, a literary and political figure, founder of the Communist Workers Party in Germany and a great influence on the Dada movement there. The artist had a hatred of German militarism and failed an attempt at suicide when conscripted into the German army in 1917. He eventually fled to America in 1933.
