A marvelous Chinese cloisonné enameled Ruyi scepter. The Ruyi scepter is a scholarly object and were often given as a gift because of implied good wishes they represent. The origins of these scepters arose as ritualistic objects, a talisman, and often were used to designate rank in society.
The current example is a marvelous one. The gilt metal substrate features intricate cloisonne and enameled decoration to both the top side and underneath. The scepter features decorative motifs including a Buddhistic canopy, floral decoration along with raised peaches on vines which are an auspicious decorative motif in Chinese culture. The head of the Ruyi scepter classically in lingzhi for, which this has a stylized ruyi head in oval form with scalloped and barbed trim. Probably 20th C.

Condition
Wear includes pitting to the enameled finish, seen to the raised peaches and in other areas. There is oxidation to the gilt metal frame with slight indents to areas on the underside commensurate with age and handling. Despite the scepter presents well.
