A magnificent Georgian style Chinoiserie lacquered secretary cabinet in antiqued red lacquered finish with gilt embellishment in the form of landscape sprays with pagodas, boats, figural groups and rockery over red ground. The cabinet is decorated fully, both the exterior and interior share all these beautiful details.
The upper case is fitted with two hinged doors that open to reveal an intricate and detailed interior with conforming drawers, cabinets, and dividers decorated the same as the exterior. The top is further detailed with a broken arch pediment. The upper case rests upon a hinged, slant from writing desk that can be lowered and is fitted with a leather inset writing surface. The recessed area inside the desk is also fitted with a variety of detailed conforming drawers, cabinets, dividers and two book-form concealed boxes.
Below the desk sits the lower case which is fitted with four graduated drawers having brass pulls and escutcheons. The whole cabinet rests on turned bun feet.
Marked "Hand Painted / Maitland Smith (Phils) Inc." with a proper gilt label marked "Maitland-Smith, Ltd. / Hand-Made in the Philippines on reverse.”
Please note that this cabinet can be disassembled in two parts for ease of transportation and installation.

In overall good condition. There is a crack to the left hand slide support bracket which could be repaired and when inserted the crack is not visible.
