About the Artist:
Chen Chi was a Chinese-American who spent much of his career living and working in the United States. Early in his career, he taught painting at girls' high schools in China before beginning to exhibit his work around Shanghai. In 1947, Chi moved to the United States and worked at the National Arts Club for forty years. Renowned for his watercolors and illustrations, Chi became the first living Chinese artist to hold a one-man retrospective at Versailles. His illustrations have appeared in the Ford Motor Company Magazine, Collier's, Sports Illustrated, and Horizon. Two museums have opened in his name in China, including in Shanghai and his birthplace, Wuxi.
