An original oil on canvas by Spanish artist Antonio Reyna (1859-1937). The current painting depicts an exceptionally painted realistic coastal scene with nude bathers in the foreground, masted vessel at rest appearing to cast its shadow over the reflective sea. The Venetian architecture can be seen in the distance, appearing underneath the brilliantly painted clouds spanning throughout the blue-grey sky above. Signed lower right.
Presented in an ebonized frame gilt finished frame liner. Bears gold tone name plaque with the artists name, mounted to the lower center of the works frame.

About the Artist:
Antonio Reyna, was born in Spain but truly developed his style while in Italy. By 1885, Reyna had first visited Venice, a city that would capture his heart and be the muse for a large part of his works. Like this one, Reyna specialized in landscape painting, being widely known for his Venetian scenes, incorporating the architectural marvels with ornate level details.

Condition
The painting is lined. It has been been professionally cleaned. There is some in-painting from to the left hand side of the clouds extending from above the lower frame to below the upper frame from an earlier restoration. Some gentle wear around the trim edges of the canvas but overall presents very well.
