An elegant horse with its left leg raised and on a rectangular bronze base. This is one of four versions of this horse- the first two on rectangular bases and the later two on oval bases. This piece is mounted on a rectangular black marble base (now loose).

About the Artist:
Barye acquired a patent for casting small scale bronzes and partnered with Emile Martin in 1845 to produce them in quantity for middle class collectors. Their first catalogue was published in 1844 and was a great success.

Condition
Presents well overall with a lovely reddish brown patina. It is now loose from the base but can be mounted again. Please review the photos as they are part of the condition report.
