This magnificent antique Russian 84 silver icon was made privately in 1858, by Faberge workmaster F. Verkhotsev, who was responsible for crafting the Russian Easter eggs, along with Michael Perchin and Henrik Wigström.
A beautifully crafted Russian icon depicting Christ posed with one hand in blessing and the other holding an open book. His head and hands are painted oil on panel, while his clothes, book, and halo are designed with gorgeous and ornately decorated silver riza. Marked 84 silver and 1858 to the underneath trim of the rizza. The scene is surrounded by a border of lush scrolling foliage and affixed with a loop at the top for wall hanging.
Please note: This was made in the by Verkhotsev privately, which is why it is not hallmarked Faberge.
