Item Description
Albert Zavaro (French, 1925-2022) oil on canvas painting depicting an Expressionistic representation of a coastal scene with vibrant blue-green harbor with sailboats and architecture in the distance. Signed lower left.
Presented handsomely in a carved and painted frame with a linen liner. The frame has a mounted picture light.
Provenance: The estate of a gentleman, New Jersey.

About the Artist:
Albert Zavaro was born in Istanbul in 1925, but moved to France in 1926 following the death of his father. Zavaro spent a great deal of time in museums around Paris, mostly the Louvre. By 1945, Zavaro had enrolled at l’École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, and by 1951 he was awarded the Casa de Velásquez prize. By 1956, Zavaro had his first Parisian exhibition at the Galerie Barbizon. Working in the Post-Impressionist style, Zavaro blended abstraction and realism in his vibrant paintings.

Condition
Lined. The liner is loose on verso. The painting is in good condition overall with very slight spots of wear. There are some slight stain spots to the liner.
