Simple & Timeless Pieces Fill a Home

Black Rock Galleries is pleased to have the opportunity to sell numerous unique items in our various auctions and from our luxury consignment showroom. Over the years, we have seen a multitude of unique items come and go. Most times, once the item leaves, we do not get the opportunity to see it put to use. As you know, we love seeing the estate pieces we have sold in their new environments and with the Estate Sale Season in full swing, we wanted to take a few moments to showcase the BRG finds shared by one of our loyal customers. Fortunately, long-time BRGer, Jeff, shared some images of his purchases in his home! Our merchandise brightens up his home as unique accents in just about every room.

Dining Room

For example, take the dining room shown above. Jeff successfully creates a simple and classic dining room vignette with lively pops of light green accents. We love the on-trend farmhouse-chic feeling the rich wood tones in both the farm table and the set of Windsor chairs, combined with a few decorative green accessories all grounded with a dye-washed area rug. Above the table hangs a wrought iron curved six-arm chandelier. Simple. Clean. Fresh. Current.

As an avid antiques and consignments shopper, Jeff has, over the years, accumulated several key pieces which provide the foundation for his home’s delightfully clean and simple design aesthetic. We will endeavor to highlight some of those pieces as examples of how you might utilize your own estate purchases to the fullest!

Foyer

Jeff adds this blue-toned winter scene artwork mounted over a 19th century English mahogany console table. In the same room, similarly, the Americana folk-art piece mounted above a Federal style card table is also decorated with a single candlestick accent.

Living Room

In the photos below (pieced together to give you a sense of placement within the room), he adds twist of history with the antique two candle Tole lamp resting upon a beautiful burled-wood Federal style chest. The green tones in the lamp pays homage to the light green wall color, while also becoming a unique accent piece within the space. Additionally, Jeff added a beautiful piece of art over the cream colored settee. This John Stobart Limited Edition Print "Georgetown, Moonlight On The Potomac River" catches the eye and adds another layer of visual interest to the room. We love the artistic element the antique (c. 1830-1840) handprinted Tole Tray Table also adds to the space. Simply lovely.

Breakfast Nook & Study

Jeff’s sense of simple, classic style is evidenced still in the following images which feature a partial set of Chippendale style dining chairs with burgundy and gold upholstery flanking a delicate drum table (lower right) in the space between two full-length windows. Additionally, he creates a simple breakfast nook using an American Sheridan drop-leave Pembroke table (circa 1820). Notice the whimsical cow statues on the window.

Family Room

In another room, Jeff mixes some whimsical pieces with traditional antiques and more contemporary pieces. Notice the bright red pop-of-color with the antique American 19th century whirligig. He also uses an unusual mahogany round stand / table as a side table between his sofa and love seat. By using several well-chosen accessories, Jeff unites the overall aesthetic of the room blending old and new(er).

Rec Room / Billiards Room

Finally, he uses this awesome set of four rustic billiard / bar stools in his rec room to not only provide his guests a place to sit, but also to ground and balance the otherwise empty spaces in the room.

By blending antique, vintage and contemporary pieces, Jeff managed to transform basic, ordinary spaces and reach his design goals. Through interesting antiques and decorative decor, everyone can spruce up their living space!
