Home for the Holidays: Creating a Seaside Chic Christmas

We L-O-V-E helping local causes, especially when those causes allow us to show-off a bit of our creativity in using merchandise from our consignment showroom to decorate the space -- "BRG style."
Such was the case when several volunteers working on the 2018 Fairfield Christmas Tree Festival asked us to loan pieces for their designers to use. We also took on a room of our own and set to the task of creating a "seaside chic Christmas" design. Here’s how it turned out ....
Seaside Chic Christmas
One of our set-up team members, Robin Cohen, took a handful of photos after completing the space. By layering furniture, decorative accessories, and festive seasonal Christmas decorations, our team was able to create a wonderful, heartwarming space. The one requirement was that the room needed to have plenty of "people flow" space to allow the massive number of visitors in the Burr Homestead to be able to move through the space with relative ease. What do you think?
In addition to the furniture, lighting, and decorative accessories, the room was enhanced with commercially purchased Christmas decorations including wreaths, garlands, bows, balls, and other enhancements such as the seaside touches that embellish the square wreathes (below) — glittery starfish and pewter-toned seahorses.
Layering multiple small trees in lieu of one large tree allows for visual interest, height changes and an overall smaller footprint in the room — which enables guests the opportunity to mill-about the room freely. Although the trees are different heights, the unifying element are the white lights, decorations and deep, blue-gray bow toppers.
The place-settings include vintage linen placemats and a variety of decorative, large seashells adorning the vintage blue dishes. Greens, blues, and silvers rule the day with this tablescape. Still Christmassy but exuding a clear seaside influence.
If you're in the general Fairfield, CT area, we encourage you to visit the Christmas Tree Festival at Burr Homestead located at 739 Old Post Road. All proceeds from the event benefit the McGivney Community Center. The event runs Friday, November 30 through Sunday, December 2.
