Q&A with Leah
How did you become interested in estate sales and online auctions?
I developed an interest in estate sales and online auctions because I have a love for antiques and pieces that are one-of-a-kind. Although I do love new pieces, antiques and vintage finds add so much character to a home lending to the collected look.
How do you describe your design style or aesthetic?
I would describe my sense of style as mainly country French. I love the casual but elegant characteristics of this decor. A room that has the new combined with the old is very appealing to me.
What are some things you always find yourself bidding upon in online auctions?
I find myself leaning towards artwork, ironstone, etched glassware and Staffordshire figurines.
What's your absolute favorite item ever purchased at an estate sale or online auction?
The item that I would have to say that I love the most is an antique secretary desk that I recently purchased. I love the tone of the wood and displaying items, both old and new, on the shelving.
Any tips or advice for online auction or estate sale newbies?
I would say for new collectors to go with what you like. Try building a collection that can be used in multiple rooms in the house – pieces that can be integrated from room to room.
