Proudly Supporting The Cancer Beat
BRG Happenings | PUBLISHED 09.28.17 | Jennifer Ventresca
Social responsibility manifests itself in many ways. For some it is about environmental issues. For others it is political. For others still, it is about giving back to the community in a meaningful way.
Over the years, we have tried to integrate social responsibility within our business culture by targeting local charitable institutions that touch us personally and in some small way support them. Such is the case with this year's 2nd Annual Cancer Beat, a fundraiser created by The Cancer Couch Foundation.
When choosing organizations to support, it's important to us to choose local charities. The Cancer Couch Foundation is based in Southport, CT. It is completely run by volunteers and, incredibly, is able to get 100% of their event proceeds and donations received matched. In turn, all of their efforts directly fund metastatic breast cancer research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. When we were approached by The Cancer Couch Foundation, we were touched by their dedication to the challenges facing cancer research funding, as well as the personal accounts of the principals and volunteers we encountered. We knew we had to help. In fact, we only recently became aware of The Cancer Couch Foundation and their mission through a client whose home we were liquidating.
So if you are looking for a worthy cause, take a look at The Cancer Couch Foundation. If you are looking for something to do on October 21, consider attending the 2nd Annual Cancer Beat taking place at The Warehouse on Sanford Street in Fairfield.
